Mobileye to Acquire Mentee Robotics in $900 Million; Targets Humanoid Production by 2028

Mobileye News

Intel remains the largest shareholder in Mobileye with about a 23% stake.

Mobileye announced that it has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Mentee Robotics, a developer of humanoid robots, in a deal valued at approximately $900 million.

The transaction includes $612 million in cash and approximately 26.2 million shares of Mobileye Class A common stock. Approved by both the Mobileye board and majority shareholder Intel Corp., the deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2026.

Mobileye is leveraging a $24.5 billion revenue pipeline to acquire Mentee Robotics, eyeing a humanoid market projected to reach $4.04 billion by 2030. This move expands their ‘Physical AI’ capabilities through a vertically integrated platform. Using few-shot learning, the technology develops safe, scalable robots that interact naturally in real-world environments.

“Today marks a new chapter for robotics and automotive AI, and the beginning of Mobileye 3.0,” stated Mobileye CEO Prof. Amnon Shashua. “The common requirements for self-driving cars and humanoids, such as intent-aware planning and safety, provide a natural foundation for general-purpose robots.”

The integration is expected to accelerate Mentee’s commercial roadmap significantly. First on-site proofs-of-concept with customers are slated for 2026, with full-scale series production and commercialization targeted for 2028.

Mentee Robotics will operate as an independent unit within Mobileye to maintain its development continuity. The acquisition is projected to cause only a modest, low-single-digit percentage increase in Mobileye’s 2026 operating expenses.

The deal highlights a strategic shift toward Physical AI, systems capable of interacting naturally with humans in the physical world. Mobileye plans to apply its ‘Responsibility-Sensitive Safety’ models to ensure humanoid robots operate reliably in unpredictable environments alongside people.
